What's New

The product that’s transforming a contractor’s entire business

hon476-2_blogheader_lyric_c103United Heating, Cooling and Plumbing is one of the largest service providers in the Midwest, serving thousands of residential and commercial customers in Kansas, Missouri and Arizona. Last fall, United’s Honeywell sales rep, John Sartwell, came out to talk new products – which included the Lyric™ Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector. For Joe Morgan, United’s Plumbing Service Manager, that’s when the lightbulb went on.

“Basic leak detectors with audible alarms have limitations,” he said. “They only work as long at the homeowner is home. Because the Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector connects to the Lyric app, it can send immediate alerts to the customer and to our service department. There are huge opportunities across our business.”

Building revenue and generating leads with residential customers

The Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector sends an alert when it detects a water leak, or when the indoor temperature or humidity fall outside a set range. As a value add, United’s service department can receive the same alerts the homeowner does, enabling their techs to follow up and help homeowners enhance comfort or avoid damage – while also creating new sales opportunities.

“If we get a low humidity alert, that’s a potential humidifier sale,” Joe said. “If the temperature drops too low, that’s a service call. If the sump pump is leaking water, that’s a service call, and a potential repair or replacement.”

Providing peace of mind for commercial and residential new construction customers

Contractors who serve the new construction market are all too familiar with the challenges that can arise a year or two after project completion. Callbacks for things like humidifier leaks and clogged drains are not only time-consuming, but they can also be costly – especially if they lead to ceiling or drywall damage.

To help avoid these unforeseen expenses, United is considering the Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector on every new construction project going forward. “It’s a minimal cost in the grand scheme of things,” Joe said. “It’s an insurance policy for the new homeowners or tenants, and it can protect us, too.”

Saving property management customers valuable time and money

As the service provider of choice for several large apartment complexes, United knows that a leak in one unit can quickly become a problem in many units. And when you consider how many leak-prone products there are in each unit, multiplied by the number of units in an entire complex, it’s not a question of if a leak will happen, it’s a question of when.

“We can put a Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector in each unit, label it with the appliance and unit number, and link the alerts to our service department,” Joe said. “It’ll help our techs identify where the problem is more quickly, and can potentially save the property management company a significant amount of money.”

The small product that can make a big impact

The Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector can alert customers and your service staff to water leaks, extreme temperatures and more – before they become costly problems. Plus, it’s quick and easy to install and operate. Like Joe said, “It’s a no-brainer for every business.”

The Lyric Wi-Fi Water Leak and Freeze Detector:

  • Connects to the customer’s Lyric app via Wi-Fi (no additional hub or base station is needed)
  • Sends alerts via the Lyric app and also produces an audible alarm
  • Includes a 4-foot sensing cable for extended range
  • Is battery-powered with an estimated battery life of 1-3 years (depending on settings)
